TV maker settles fake 120Hz class action lawsuit for $3 million-

Vizio has agreed to pay out $3 million to settle a 2018 California class action lawsuit that accused the company of misleading consumers over the refresh rates of its TVs. Vizio had been claiming that black frame insertion technology increased the “effective refresh rate” of its TVs from 60Hz to 120Hz.

It also applied the same language and thinking to 120Hz panels, boosting the “effective” refresh rate of those sets to 240Hz. The settlement terms (via The Verge) allow anyone who bought a Vizio TV in California after April 30 2014 to claim, receiving between $17 and $50 depending on the number of claimants.

Vizio, of course, explicitly denies any wrongdoing, the implication being that it sees the settlement as expedient rather truly justified. That said, as part of the settle…

Here’s the dystopian cooking simulator about frying up illegal eggs in Antarctica that you’ve always wanted-

Here’s a weird new indie that has my undivided attention: Arctic Eggs, a game where you’re in a miserable future seeking to escape a dystopian prison with nothing but your wits, strong wrists, and a frying pan. You cook for others, you cook to survive, and you cook to explore the low-poly, lo-res, scanlined brutalist heckscape that is this weird frozen penal colony.

Arctic Eggs takes place almost entirely via the action of walking, talking, and frying pan flipping. You ain’t got no spatula to cook from. You got a pan, and moving it with a mouse is how you slide the food so you can roll it perfectly up and off the edge and into the air for a beautiful flip that you just absolutely must catch again because there are no sunny-side up eggs in this dystopian landscape.

An incompl…

Western Digital will be shipping 4TB SD cards in 2025 for handhelds, laptops, or anything that needs tiny-BIG storage-

Known for offering bags of storage in a teeny tiny format, SD cards have been pretty slow at piling on the gigabytes over the years, compared to HDDs, SSDs, and other storage formats. Western Digital plans to step things up a notch or two, though, stating that it expects to launch 4TB models in its SanDisk range next year.

News of the forthcoming products, reported by Anandtech (via Ars Technica), is likely to be well received by anyone with a digital camera or handheld device who’ve been frustrated by the fact that SD cards have only just reached the 2TB level—and I when I say ‘only just’, I’m talking about January of this year.

While the SDUC (Secure Digital Ultra Capacity) format of the 7.0 SD specification permits up to 128TB, no such drives exist on the market. Th…

Watching her girlfriend bed Lae’zel on a Baldur’s Gate 3 stream completely stuns Shadowheart’s voice actor- ‘I don’t know what to say’-

As spotted by GamesRadar, Jennifer English—the voice behind everyone’s favourite head-wiggling smarm machine Shadowheart—has been playing Baldur’s Gate 3 with her partner Aliona Baranova (also the game’s performance director) on Twitch.

The otherwise wholesome stream took a turn for the saucy, however, when Baranova’s character engaged in a bit of Gith lovin’.

The game’s stream-friendly nudity filters are turned on, rendering Lae’zel’s battle-tempered body markedly less alluring thanks to some well-placed leaves. Doesn’t stop the duo from spontaneously combusting, though, as Amelia Tyler’s dulcet narrations steal the show.

“It’s so weird ’cause we’ve seen Dev [Lae’zel’s voice actor] today,” English remarks after a noise of excitement …

I hope I have this right, because it’s gotten a bit complicated since I last checked: Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 Warlords of New York Expansion Year 5 Season 1 Broken Wings Descent Mode is coming in early June. And if you play Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 Warlords of New York Expansion on PC, you can get an early look at Descent Mode (in Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 Warlords of New York Expansion Year 5 Season 1 Broken Wings) tomorrow.

Descent Mode will be on public test servers on April 21 for players on PC. To be clear, that’s public test servers for Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 Warlords of New—well, you get it.

I’ve clearly lost track of what’s been going on in The Division 2 recently, but Descent Mode actually sounds kinda cool. It’s a free roguelite mode you can pla…

WoW player hits level cap without even arriving at the starting area in 200-day grinding ordeal-

It’s official: Reaching World of Warcraft’s level cap of 70 without leaving its tutorial zone is now old-hat. Instead, real dedicated zen masters hit maximum strength without even arriving there, making use of WoW’s pet battle mechanic to slowly level up without ever leaving the confines of the boat that takes you to the game’s starting area. That’s what a player called Cheatcho did, who documented his remarkably stationery journey to level 70 in a recent Reddit thread (via GamesRadar).

How did he manage it? Well, WoW contains a few pet battle quests that can be finished by any character on your account, rather than only the character who got the quest. By picking up the quests on one character and concluding them on another, you can do things like, well, level up a chara…

Rupee settles 2 paise higher at 83.26 against US dollar

The rupee stayed range-bound and settled 2 paise higher at 83.26 against the US dollar on Thursday as the American currency retreated from its elevated levels after the US Federal Reserve was a bit dovish in its policy meeting.

Forex traders said the local unit got support from positive domestic equity markets and risk-on sentiments. The US Federal Reserve kept interest rates on hold and its Chairman Jerome Powell looked content with the economy’s soft landing. Following the decision, the dollar index softened, and the 10-year bond yield fell to 4.70.
